.about this site.

why this site was created

This site was initially created as a final project for the Spring 2004 Library & Information Science (LSC) Graduate course "Internet for Librarians" at the University of Rhode Island .   (Final grade for this website: A+)

purpose of this site

Originally, this site was an informational website consisting of pathfinders for the purpose of accumulating information on popular topics in one place for easy accessibility. This site's intended audience was anyone searching for information on a particular topic, although this site was created with students, researchers, and librarians in mind.

As I tried to expand the site to add more topics and information, however, I realized the project was beyond my limited time and resources. Also, a number of comprehensive reference/directory sites already exist (such as Google , Yahoo! , and DMOZ ). So, I decided to gear my site toward my own personal and professional interests, which I hope others may find as useful, informative, and interesting as I do.

about the creator

My name is Lori and I live in Rhode Island. I am a graduate (December 2005) of the Graduate School of Library & Information Sciences at the University of Rhode Island. Before matriculating to URI, I majored in English (with a minor in writing) at Rhode Island College (B.A., 2001), where I also wrote articles for the Entertainment section of The Anchor .

In my liesure time, I enjoy reading and purchasing books for my growing collection. I am an Egyptology buff and a collector of Egyptian art. I also enjoy tap dancing , bicycling, hosting dinner parties for friends, writing fiction, solitary walks, squirrel-watching, re-teaching myself to play the violin, and training my cat to sit on command.

I always look forward to hearing from visitors, so please see the contact me page to send thoughts, ideas, comments, critiques, or just a friendly greeting.
